Day Wise Detailed Travel Plan for Assam Meghalaya Arunachal Pradesh

Day - 1 : Guwahati to Bomdila
Upon your arrival at Guwahati Airport or Railway Station, you will be warmly welcomed by our representative and begin your memorable journey towards the picturesque Himalayan town of Bomdila. The drive takes you through the lush plains of Assam, where sprawling tea gardens and scenic countryside create a refreshing start to your adventure. En route, enjoy views of the majestic Kolia Bhomora Bridge spanning the mighty Brahmaputra River and admire the gradually changing landscape as the Himalayan foothills come into view.
As you ascend into Arunachal Pradesh, the air becomes cooler and the scenery more dramatic. Upon reaching Bomdila, visit the serene Bomdila Monastery, an important center of Buddhist culture that offers beautiful views of the surrounding mountains. Later, explore the local market, known for its traditional handicrafts and local products. Overnight stay in Bomdila.
Day - 2 : Bomdila to Tawang
After breakfast, embark on one of the most spectacular mountain journeys in Northeast India as you travel towards Tawang. The route winds through breathtaking Himalayan landscapes, alpine forests, and high-altitude mountain passes.
The highlight of the journey is crossing the famous Sela Pass at an altitude of approximately 13,700 feet. Surrounded by snow-capped peaks and pristine mountain scenery, the pass is home to the stunning Sela Lake, whose crystal-clear waters add to the beauty of the region. Continue to the historic Jaswant Garh War Memorial, dedicated to the bravery of Rifleman Jaswant Singh Rawat during the 1962 Indo-China War. Further ahead, visit the magnificent Nuranang Falls, also known as Jang Falls, where water cascades dramatically amidst the Himalayan wilderness.

Day - 3 : Excursion to Bum La Pass and Madhuri Lake
Today is dedicated to an unforgettable excursion to some of Arunachal Pradesh’s most iconic high-altitude attractions. Subject to permits and weather conditions, proceed to Bum La Pass, situated near the India–China border at an altitude of approximately 15,200 feet. The route offers breathtaking views of rugged mountains, glacial lakes, and dramatic landscapes.
Visit the famous Madhuri Lake, also known as Sangetsar Lake, which gained popularity after being featured in a Bollywood film. Surrounded by towering mountains and partially submerged tree trunks, the lake presents a magical and unique setting. Continue to the pristine PTSO Lake and the strategic Y-Junction area before returning to Tawang.

Day - 4 : Tawang Sightseeing and Transfer to Dirang
After breakfast, begin your day with sightseeing in Tawang. Visit the magnificent Tawang Monastery, the second-largest monastery in Asia and one of the most important Buddhist monasteries in the world. The monastery offers breathtaking views of the valley and serves as a spiritual center for the Monpa community.
Continue to the Tawang War Memorial, built in honor of the brave soldiers who laid down their lives during the Indo-China War. Later, visit the impressive Giant Buddha Statue, which overlooks the town and surrounding mountains.
After sightseeing, begin your journey towards Dirang through scenic mountain roads and beautiful valleys. Arrive in Dirang by evening and check in to your hotel. Overnight stay in Dirang.
Day - 5 : Dirang to Guwahati via Shergaon
Following breakfast, explore the beautiful attractions around Dirang before beginning your journey back to Guwahati via Shergaon. Visit the peaceful Dirang Monastery and the historic Dirang Dzong, a traditional fortified settlement showcasing the region’s unique architectural heritage. Continue to the picturesque Sangti Valley, renowned for its lush meadows, crystal-clear river, and breathtaking Himalayan landscapes.
Proceed to Shergaon, a charming Monpa village surrounded by pine forests and scenic mountain views. Visit Shergaon Monastery, enjoy a leisurely village walk, and experience the tranquil atmosphere of this beautiful destination. After sightseeing, continue your drive to Guwahati. Upon arrival, check in to your hotel for an overnight stay.
Day - 6 : Guwahati Sightseeing and Transfer to Shillong
After breakfast, begin exploring Guwahati, the gateway to Northeast India. Visit the revered Kamakhya Temple, one of the most important Shakti Peethas in the country, situated atop Nilachal Hill. Subject to ferry timings, visit the Umananda Temple located on Peacock Island in the middle of the Brahmaputra River. Later, enjoy views of the scenic Brahmaputra Riverfront before proceeding towards Shillong.
En route, stop at the beautiful Umiam Lake, also known as Barapani, where the tranquil waters surrounded by rolling hills create a picture-perfect landscape. Continue to Shillong and check in to your hotel. Overnight stay in Shillong.
Day - 7 : Shillong to Cherrapunjee
After breakfast, proceed towards Cherrapunjee, one of the wettest places on Earth and a destination celebrated for its spectacular waterfalls, caves, and dramatic landscapes. En route, visit the beautiful Elephant Falls and the breathtaking Mawkdok Dympep View Point, which offers panoramic views of deep valleys and lush green hills.
Upon reaching Cherrapunjee, explore the region’s most famous attractions including the majestic Nohkalikai Falls, India's tallest plunge waterfall, the magnificent Seven Sisters Falls, and the fascinating Mawsmai Cave with its natural limestone formations. Continue to Arwah Cave, known for its fossil-rich interiors, and visit Eco Park for stunning views of the surrounding valleys and the distant plains of Bangladesh.

Day - 8 : Cherrapunjee Local Sightseeing
Today is dedicated to exploring the hidden gems and natural wonders of Cherrapunjee. Begin with a visit to the breathtaking Wei Sawdong Falls, often regarded as one of Meghalaya’s most beautiful waterfalls due to its crystal-clear turquoise pools and multi-tiered cascades.
Continue to Dainthlen Falls, a waterfall steeped in local folklore, followed by visits to Lyngksiar Falls and the picturesque Garden of Caves, where waterfalls, caves, and natural streams create a magical environment. Later, visit Thangkharang Park and the iconic Khoh Ramhah, also known as Pillar Rock, a striking natural rock formation surrounded by scenic landscapes.
Return to your hotel for an overnight stay in Cherrapunjee.
Day - 9 : Cherrapunjee to Shillong
After breakfast, drive back to Shillong while exploring some of the region’s most scenic attractions. Visit Shillong Peak, the highest point in Meghalaya, offering panoramic views of Shillong city and the surrounding hills. Continue to the Air Force Museum, which showcases the aviation history and defense heritage of the region.
Later, visit the spectacular Laitlum Canyon, one of Meghalaya’s most breathtaking viewpoints, known for its dramatic valleys and rolling hills. Continue to Ward’s Lake, a peaceful urban oasis in the heart of Shillong, before spending some leisure time at Police Bazaar, the city's vibrant shopping and entertainment hub.

Day - 10 : Shillong Sightseeing and Guwahati Departure
After breakfast, enjoy the remaining attractions of Shillong. Visit the beautifully landscaped Lady Hydari Park, followed by the magnificent Cathedral of Mary Help of Christians, one of the most prominent churches in Northeast India. Continue to the Don Bosco Museum, which offers a fascinating insight into the diverse cultures and traditions of Northeast India.
Before departing, visit the historic Shillong Golf Course, one of the oldest and most scenic natural golf courses in Asia. Later, begin your drive back to Guwahati and proceed to the Airport or Railway Station for your onward journey.
